Last year’s Premier League runners up were challenged at various stages of the game, but it was winger Sandro Hutter who stole the show.
Playing in his first run-on game after coming off the bench last week, Hutter scored four goals including a top-drawer finish from outside the area.
Coach Nathan Wade was impressed with his team’s overall performance which was another small step towards going one better this season.
“It was a better performance than last week because your first one is always a bit scrappy,” he said.
“We ironed out a few faults in the boys from last week.”
Wade was impressed with Hutter’s performance.
“At one stage whenever he was shooting, the ball ended up in the back of the net,” he said.
“He got in the right positions and was in the right spot at the right time.”
Jack Pilgrim also got on the scoresheet as United scored their 11th goal in their first two pre-season matches.
“We’re creating chances which is really pleasing,” Wade said.
“If you can score one out of every 10 shots you have, you’re going to give yourself a chance.”
Jimmy Watson and Kaleb Langbein were also strong in the middle of the park.
“They controlled things really well and ran their hearts out,” Wade said.
“We got in behind them a few times and did counter-attack a little bit.”
United will face a different challenge at Nambucca Heads next weekend.
“The Nambucca Cup will be a little bit different because the games are shorter and it’s more about fitness,” Wade said.
“Each game pretty much just rolls into the next and I’m confident the boys are where they need to be fitness-wise at this stage of the season.”
