Spending the weekend in the Port Macquarie-Hastings region, the four senior Rotarians are taking part in a Group Study Exchange (GSE) which is aimed at providing a a unique cultural and vocational international exchange opportunity for business and professionals.
From February 22- 25, the group made vocational visits in Port Macquarie to observe practices in Australia with the understanding that knowledge learnt would be taken home to develop existing Rotary projects.
Eunice Chiria, one of the delegation members said that members of the group had visited Port Macquarie Base Hospital, Essential Energy, Catholic Care and a local organic farm.
“So far we have really enjoyed being in Port Macquarie and visiting all the Rotary clubs in the Hastings area,” Ms Eunice said.
“We have visited work places that are similar to the jobs we hold back home to see if we can find better or different ways of doing things back home.
“I was particularly taken with the projects Rotary clubs in Coffs Harbour are doing with the families of cancer sufferers as we are creating a hospital back home and can use some of the ideas they are here.”
The first of its kind on the Mid North Coast, the group will take back its experiences to Uganda and will be ready to meet the first Australian Group Study Exchange Team to visit Uganda taking place later in the year.
