AS a resident of Lake Cathie I read with interest your coverage of the tidal pool push by Port Macquarie residents (Port News 19th Feb).

I wish the proponents of the pool good luck, but feel a little aggrieved when I consider that in Lake Cathie we have one of the safest and most attractive natural tidal pools in the council area.
Of course, that is only when it is open.
At the moment it is an open sewer.
The problem, according to council staff, is that there is no money to keep it open and, apparently, no will to open it when it is like it is now.
I will be an even less happy camper if council finds the money to give Port Macquarie a second public pool in the town when the residents of the burgeoning township of Lake Cathie can't even use its own natural pool due to lack of maintenance.
