The majority of the 30 women at the February 17 promotional day were drawn from the business community.
Hastings Valley Hunting Club chairman Keiran Dick said the aim of the day was to promote women in the sport of shooting.
Safety officer Brian Moncrieff gave an introduction about the safety aspect of firearms and the women took part in a competition.
Mr Dick said hopefully the day would lead to better understanding and break down any stigma surrounding the sport.
“Shooting is a sport where you are competing against yourself,” he said.
“It’s a mental game.”
Hastings Valley Hunting Club, which has about 400 members, was formed in 1996.
Kirstie Shaw from Wauchope Real Estate enjoyed the day.
“It has been an experience of something we wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to do,” she said.
Miss Shaw said the day also promoted the Hastings Regional Shooting Complex.
The women were drawn from Wauchope Real Estate, Miedecke Motor Group, Smartline Mortgage Advisers and Hastings Co-op.
Harvey Norman sponsored the day.
Hastings Valley Hunting Club encourages people to come along on Saturdays for a $10 social visit during which they get shown the ropes and learn more about the club and its community.
