Chairperson Kate Wood-Foye spoke at the launch on February 20 of the high calibre speakers and the key messages they aim to deliver this year.
Luminosity Youth Summit is a not for profit organisation facilitating a youth leadership and excellence summit held in July each year at the Glasshouse and Rydges Port Macquarie.
This will be the Hastings’ sixth year hosting the event, with over 1500 young people between the ages of 15 and 25 experiencing the Summit to date.
It is a dynamic three day program of workshops and keynotes featuring athletes, creatives, scientists, artists, philanthropists and academics sharing their stories.
In 2018, an inspiring lineup will include Dr Angela Jay, Future Crunch, Jessica Watson OAM, Jack Wilson, Mike Rolls, Mikhara Ramsing, Benny Owen, Lady Gaga's stylist Nixi Killick and Shelley Watts.
Each year the overarching Summit theme is ‘dangerous ideas for success’ and each of the three days has a theme . This year it’s all about empowering students to inspire, challenge, excel.
The format includes 22 inspiring speakers from all over the globe who are at the top of their field, thought leaders and cultural advocates who are flown to the Glasshouse and on the main stage and masterclass rooms to conduct a TEDX style event.
Students who attend are not just from the Hastings, but from all over the Australia and New Zealand, with only 350 spaces available each year.
Of the 250 places, 100 positions go to disadvantaged scholarship students encouraging positivity, leadership, entrepreneurship, and discussing youth mental health.
