A convoy of eight Year 11 agriculture students and their teacher travelled from Taree Christian College for the day for a farm tour and case study.
A number of local area secondary schools, including Port’s St Joseph’s Regional College, are regular guests at the farm to help them towards completing subjects including agriculture, business studies and tourism.
Ricardoes owner Anthony Sarks offers individualised tours dedicated to each of the three disciplines that make up his farm’s operation.
Among their observation the students from the Manning noted the growing methods, nurture and progress of more than 10,000 tomato seedlings planted two weeks ago.
The mid-summer planting is the crop that traditionally produces Ricardoes’ “best tomato” specimen year after year at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
