Spokesperson Maureen Cooke said the extension would provide art lovers with more opportunity to view the over 200 art works expected to be on display.
The annual exhibition is on from Wednesday March 28 to Thursday April 12 at the society’s home at Hamilton Green on Hastings River Drive.
Mrs Cooke said artists will be in the running for $3500 in prizes.
“The extension of the exhibition time will give artists the chance to leave their works on display for longer,” she said.
“The opening night is on March 28 and everyone is invited to attend this marvelous event. There will be wine and finger food available with public admission at $15 and exhibiting artists’ entry set at $10.”
The extended exhibition and earlier than usual date also means that artists have only until March 10, 2018 to lodge their entry forms.
“It is just a matter of weeks away,” Mrs Cooke added.
“This event has a proven record of attracting work by leading artists, not only from Port Macquarie and the Hastings but far beyond,” she said.
“As well, all art works in the exhibition – and there will be over 200 pieces – are available for purchase.
“Following the official opening night, the exhibition will be open each Sunday and will coincide with the opening hours of the popular Hamilton Green markets. The exhibition is also open by appointment.”
This year’s exhibition features six sections – Section 1, Open cartegory; section 2 watercolours; section 3 pastels; section 4, contemporary; section 5, drawing; and, section 6 non-competitive section.
Along with major sponsor, Port Macquarie News, other sponsors include Northcorp, adenbrook homes, Lighthouse Beach Holiday Village and Priest Legal.
