Temperatures across the Mid North Coast will climb into the mid 30s today (Wednesday February 14).

High temperatures will be accompanied by strong winds and the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) is urging residents across the mid north coast to prepare for severe fire weather.

“This week we will see strong south westerly to westerly winds develop and coupled with the heat we’ve already experienced, the landscape is very susceptible to fire,” warned NSW RFS Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons.

The dangerous fire weather comes on the 12-month anniversary of some devastating fires in the region:

Predicted top temperatures for the region, Wednesday February 14:

  • Nambucca Heads maximum 33
  • Kempsey maximum 36
  • Coffs Harbour maximum 33
  • Port Macquarie maximum 33
  • Taree maximum 35
  • Forster maximum 31

Across the Mid North Coast there will be a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the north in the afternoon and early evening.

Winds will be north west to south west between 15 to 25 km/h tending north east to south east between 15 and 20 km/h in the late afternoon then becoming light in the evening.
