The volunteers are responsible for manning eight beaches from Scotts Head through to Camden Haven on weekends and public holidays.
Lifeguards patrol during weekdays.
Branch director Life Saving Paul Rayner says it is a credit to all clubs’ volunteers for their efforts at the crucial Christmas holidays.
“All our beaches (in the Mid North Coast branch) will be open and raring to go,” Rayner said.
“Our volunteers are rostered on through the weekends and on public holidays. During weekdays, lifeguard services are responsible for manning these, and other beaches.
“Given it is Christmas, it is a big effort from our volunteers to patrol.
“No matter the weather conditions – rain, hail, or shine – our members are out there patrolling our beaches.”
Rayner said surf life saving had a simple message: swim between the flags, swim with a friend and stay calm if caught in a rip.
“Our advice is to stay calm and raise your hand to seek assistance,” he said.
“Better still, talk to a life saver prior to going into the water.” The majority of beaches are patrolled from 9am until 5pm.
Surf Life Saving is continuing to promote its beachsafe app.
The app includes details of your nearest patrolled beach, weather conditions, tide times and individual beach conditions.
