It came as a surprise to many on the other diamond with the amount of cheering and excitement coming across the field, the game sounded like a grand final.
The 21-run victory told a different story, but the atmosphere on the day showed how much the game was enjoyed regardless of the result.
In the other match between Warriors and Local Lawyers, ability and sportsmanship shone out.
Warriors jumped out to an early lead and batted first, scoring three quick runs.
Lawyers reply was also three runs.
In the bottom of the second innings, Warriors Jo Bonney hit a huge home run to right field.
Narina McNeil was next up to bat and she hit big and ran three bases.
The score at the end of the second innings saw Warriors with a 6-3 lead before Lawyers enthusiasm kicked up a gear and they scored four runs in the third.
In the final innings Fiona Ewan for Lawyers hit a home run to left field scoring herself and one other, but it wasn’t enough as Warriors held on 11-10.
The match between Diamonds and Phoenix was an easy 7-2 win to Diamonds, but they didn’t have it all their own way.
Phoenix scored the first run and held onto that for three innings before Diamonds eventually took the lead 3-2.
There was no change to the score for the next four innings which showed how tight the defence was from both sides.
At the top of the innings, Diamonds scored two more runs from a few errors which was capped off by a home run by Kathleen Artcher that pushed the score to seven.
