Letter: Regional areas deserve better connection

Spotlight, Sheridan, Liberty Fuel, banks and their ATMs and many others affected yet again (November 23) by an internet crash. Cash only (if you happen to have it on you).

The internet has been around for over 30 years and yet we here in the regional areas are still putting up with this third world sad performance.

Australia has been ranked 50th worldwide for the average speed of its fixed internet connections, trailing countries including New Zealand, Thailand and Taiwan.

And then there is the reliability issue. I think we are a lot further down that list. Perhaps we need more copper lines please Mr Murdoch.

It’s about time we voted for some adult politicians who can fix this ridiculous problem. Port Macquarie retailers and their customers should demand no less.
