The community is throwing its support behind a campaign named Cuppawareness which is a White Ribbon Awareness Project to help deliver information about domestic violence services.

November 25 is White Ribbon Day, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Over 60 cafes around the Port Macquarie Hastings area will participate in Cuppawareness by using specially designed White Ribbon coffee sleeves and cups.
Laurieton Top Spot Cafe owner Selena Ewart said the campaign is something which ‘hits close to home’.
“I’ve had friends and a family member who has been on the other end of that (domestic violence),” she said.
Selena said while it’s a small token she believes it will have a big impact.
“The more we talk about it, the more understanding there is,” she said.
Selena said she hopes the campaign will spark conversations to address the issue.
Laurieton resident Lynne Ventura said domestic violence can impact anyone at any age and from any background.
She said she hopes the campaign might prompt people to talk and seek support services which are available.
The coffee sleeves contain hotline information that could save the life of a person who is living in a domestic violence environment.

The White Ribbon Walk
It is time again to walk to show your support for victims of domestic and family violence, by taking part in the White Ribbon Coastal Walk from Lighthouse Beach to Town Green on November 26.
The free community event, consists of a coastal walk from either Lighthouse Beach, Flynn’s Beach or Town Beach Kiosk to the Town Green in Port Macquarie to raise awareness for White Ribbon Day, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
