The threat of rain didn’t dampen the competition at the second race of the McCafe Championship triathlon series at McInherney Park on November 19. Sponsored by LJ Hooker, the race was an inter-club challenge with Forster Triathlon Club.

About 55 competitors lined up over the various distances with a light shower testing the nerves of many toward the end of the bike leg before the weather closed in for the run leg, providing a welcome cooling for the athletes.
Harry Jones was the clear winner of A grade with some hot competition for the minor placings, while Alison Appleton won the women’s A Grade race. The B grade champions were Luke McDonald and Josie Pepper with some great racing pushing each other all the way to the finish line.
Ben Shield and Kate Pensini won C grade with John Tracy and Belynda Carroll taking honours in D grade. The Port Macquarie and Forster triathlon club members will compete in another inter-club challenge in Forster on 7 January.
