They claimed the under-17 open double division in a time of 2:50:42 after earlier finishing second in the men’s C-grade doubles .
McMillan also took out the men’s under-17 open single event in a time of 3:06:67.
Port Macquarie Rowing Club president Meredith Hinds said numbers of entrants were down on previous years.
“Last year and the year before we had record numbers – over 600 entries – but this year it was around 350,” she said.
In total, 110 athletes converged on the Hastings River’s short course from clubs including Manning River, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Endeavour.
Newcastle University Boat Club also had a strong representation of rowers.
“We have held this regatta for many years and used to do hold it at Telegraph Point before we moved to Wauchope,” Hinds said.
“It’s only an 800-metre course so it’s rather short and is regarded as an introductory race for our novices.”
The event was the second of three the club holds throughout the season after the season-opening Three Rivers Mini Marathon in August.
Port Macquarie will co-host an event in January in Taree over three days.
