Of the 11,500 people who finished, Grace picked up the silver medal in her class. And the couple from Mortons Creek near Beechwood raised money for their favourite charity, the Starlight Foundation which brightens the lives of sick kids.
“I was lucky enough to come second in my age group. I have been running in it for probably 10 or 11 years,” said Grace who loves the atmosphere at the Sydney event.
I'm just grateful to be able to run in it.

“It’s amazing, a great experience, you line up to get ready for the run and then you’re off,” she said.
Her husband, who’s known as Farmer John, also did well.
“I did OK for an old bloke, 23rd in my age group,” he said modestly.
Grace only started running 10 years ago, and did the Bridge run, and John decided to join her.
“Some years ago I went down to see her run and I decided to go in it, even though I hadn’t trained,” he said.
“I suffered a bit a day or two after with a build up of some sort of acid in your legs I’ve never heard of before, but it all turned out OK and I have been going ever since.
“It’s beautiful – you get to run around the city, down to Mrs Macquarie’s chair and past the Boyd Swimming pool and you look across onto Garden Island and this year we got to finish at the Opera House which was pretty good,” said John.
The couple always run for a good cause – the Starlight Children’s Foundation and they hope to be able to run again next year.
“I am just grateful to be able to run in it,” said Grace.
“It is amazing, we get to see the wheelchair people take off and then the marathon and then we are in it and we get to see the end of the marathon as well by the time we finish.
“You are just clapping for everybody at the end,” said Grace.
Their family and friends are very proud of them.
