Flamin’ Dragons Port Macquarie Inc is hosting a come and try series of days for locals wanting to give the sport a go.
The crew ventured out on to the water on Saturday, September 23 with 23 potential new paddlers in a bid to boost membership.
The club caters for men and women of all ages, levels of fitness and degrees of competitiveness and are keen to welcome new members.
Come and try days will also held on Saturday, September 30 and October 7 between 9am and 10am at Port Macquarie Marina in Park Street.
The club participates in regattas in the northern region of NSW as well as makes up a large proportion of the Regional NSW squad that recently won the State Titles and Australian Championships.
Next year they are heading off to Florence for the International Breast Cancer Paddlers Commission World Regatta.
The club currently has 60 members, 12 of whom are breast cancer survivors.
What you need to know
Do you need to be able to swim? No. Life jackets are provided.
Do you need previous experience? No. Most of paddlers are completely new to the sport.
Do you have to be fit? No. You'll become fit as a result of the training sessions.
What if you have a health condition? Not a problem. They adjust your paddling style and training to suit you and no-one needs to paddle any harder than they are able to.
