Grand finals were strongly contested in all four divisions.
While Saints Netball Club dominated the junior competition, it was Port Combined Netball Club’s time to shine on Monday.
The club was well represented with five teams playing four of five grand finals. Division 1 saw Port Combined Sportspower narrowly defeat Port Combined Cougars 30-26.
It was a fantastic game, played with high intensity and a mutual respect by all players that have played together for many years.
Division two, Port Combined Titans were to strong for Wauchope Nuffins, while Port Combined Hocus Pocus came back from behind to beat Port Panthers NSC in a thriller, 21-20.
It was all Wauchope in Division 4 with Ansome grabbing the honours over Aztecs 31-22, and a young understrength Port Panthers Pearls were no match for the Port Combined Pumas.
Port Combined Club president, Linda Dewbery was excited with the seniors results.
“All games were played to a high level, and the sportsmanship displayed is a credit to you all. You are all a great example to our juniors,” she said.
A presentation was held after the grand finals, with all captains unanimous in their thanks to competition organiser, Carol Field.
Carol does a great job throughout the season, keeping everyone informed and in check. Captains also expressed thanks to Donna Lewis and her organising of umpires for the season.
Best and fairest, voted by the players:
Division 1 – Ellie Richards, Saints Tritons
Division 2 – Jessica Slater, Port Combined Scorchers and Angela Cox, Saints Miedecke Masters
Division 3 – Emma Yates, Port Panthers Sirens
Division 4A – Sophie Anderson, Port Panthers Bintang
Division 4B – Felicity Hill, Port Combined Pop Ups.
