Rainbow babies William Christopher and Leonardo Fredrick Jones entered the world a day earlier than expected, fittingly on a special day for a special man and his wife.
Nick and Jacki Jones have had an incredibly tough two years, including two miscarriages, hospital stays, emergency flights and surgeries.
They were expecting the arrival of their twin boys on Monday, September 4, but an emergency caesarean in the early hours of September 3 meant a gift for Nick that can never be topped.
“The whole thing has been a bit of a whirlwind,” Mr Jones said.
“It was a shock (that they came early). It’s just so good to get to the end of it and know that it’s all done and they’re here now.”
Jacki said she was hoping the bubs would be delivered on Sunday rather than Monday, but never expected it to happen.
“The caesarean was booked in but I was having contractions on Saturday night,” she explained.
“By 4am Sunday the doctor was being called and I was going in. It was a great surprise. It was perfect.”
Understandably given the ordeals they have gone through, there were doubts in the back of Jacki’s mind when told of the emergency delivery.
“I was panicking when they told me about it. You have those bad thoughts in the back of your mind as every parent does,” she said.
“So when they came out and it was all done it was such a relief, and I was overwhelmed with joy.
“To arrive on Father’s Day, as miracle babies … what more could you ask for?”
William claims bragging rights over brother Leonardo, arriving at 7.04am shortly before his sibling at 7.07am.
William weighed 2.94 kilograms and measured 48 centimetres long. Leonardo weighed 3.18kg and measured 34 centimetres long.
Both bubs are in good health, with only a lack of sleep hampering mum and dad.
They are the baby step-brothers of six year old Xavier King, and grandchildren to Chris and Pam Jones, and Phillip and Lyn Jones.
Jack’s early arrival for proud parents
LITTLE Jack William Burrell picked the perfect day to arrive, coming 10 days early on Father’s Day.
He is the second child to Kristy Hansen and Grant Burrell. Jack is the new little brother to Billy.
In great health, Jack weighed 3.12 kilograms and 48 centimetres long.
“It was a great day for him to come,” Kristy said.
“Funny enough I have just found out he shares a birthday with his great-grandather, Herbert Hansen, who coincidentally was nicknamed Jack.”
He is the grandson to Les and Vicki Burrell of Mortons Creek, Dawn Hansen of Pembroke and Wyane Hansen of Sancrox.
His great grandmother is Betty Rowbottam of Wauchope.
