The event was part of History Week 2017.
Importantly, a number of residents involved as either cast or crew – playing bit parts – also attended the events.
Former crew members took a walk to Miners Beach on Saturday morning and reminisced about their time in Port Macquarie.
Castaway was filmed at Miners Beach during 1973. Thirteen episodes were filmed in the Port Macquarie area.
Alan Sinis, who played the orphan in the series, told a Q and A session at Sea Acres on Saturday afternoon that he had fond memories of his time on set.
“I was aged about 13 years old. I have really fond memories of being here in Port Macquarie,” he told the 40 people at the Sea Acres venue.
“Following the filming of the Castaway, I was able to go on and continue working in and around the entertainment industry for a number of years.”

As well as the return to Miners Beach and the Q and A session, about 60 people were on hand for the screening of three episodes of the TV series at the Glasshouse on Saturday night.
Organisers of the reunion are hopeful that the return of the cast and crew helps build information – including photographs – that will be collated into an historical document.
Sea Acres manager Natalie Talbot said the reunion was a great way to revisit the legacy of the Port Macquarie filming.
“The 1973 filming of ‘Castaway’ was a significant historical event for Port Macquarie,” she said.
Castaway was an Anglo-German production for Castaway Productions, and the first episode aired in Australia in 1974.
“Most episodes were filmed at Miners Beach but the filming of a simulated storm scene was filmed at Town Beach.
“It’s timely to undertake this venture as the theme for History Week this year is popular culture.”
History Week across the Hastings runs from September 2 until 10.
