Port Macquarie Zumba instructor Krista Gilen brought together a flash mob of dancers on July 23 as a part of a global dance campaign to raise awareness about the impacts of breast cancer.
Everyone who took part has been touched directly or indirectly by cancer in some. The I’m Still Standing campaign, embraced by Zumba instructors supporting the dance national convention in Orlando, USA later this year, is designed to encourage women to get checked early.
“To see the response we had today is just amazing,” Krista said. “A recording of our flash mob dance will be sent away to be included in a compilation of I’m Still Standing dances from across the world.
“The message here is clear – get checked, just do it. So many of us are touched by cancer and many people who are taking part in this event are breast cancer survivors.”
