Newly incorporated and with a growing membership, the Micro Business Forum represents an eclectic group of businesses up to five employees.
Committee member Vicki Carnes says the Forum works best because it is continually developing to meet the needs of its members.
“Generally we represent home-based businesses,” Ms Carnes said. “And this is a mushrooming sector that thrives on networking, learning and support.
“Our members are interested in anything that helps their business, so our meetings provide a great chance for our members and guests to work on their business.”
Fellow committee member Glenda Hamilton said meetings cover a range of topics.
“We talk about networking, time management, customer service, how to organise a work space, we have interactive discussions, share information … we like to see ourselves as being very practical in what we do,” she said.
“We get a great deal of positive feedback from members and guests at our meetings.
“The group is continuing to grow in numbers; we have a strong core of people driving the Forum into the future.”
Mrs Hamilton said she is not aware of any other similar organisation that represents mirco business within the region.
The current committee includes, Barbara Smith, Liz Paine, Amanda Larkin, Helen Shallick, Francessca O’Donnell, Debra Deane, Vicki Carnes, Pix Jonasson and Glenda Hamilton.
The Micro Business Forum meets on Friday August 4, 9am until noon at Panthers Port Macquarie. Go to the website www.microbusinessforum.org.au The guest speaker will be Andrew Kowalewski from Discover Media.
