The investment in Port Macquarie’s inpatient mental health unit will enhance services, particularly for older people and young adults.
A major upgrade to Lake Cathie Public School including new classrooms will meet the increasing student enrolments in one of the fastest growing areas in the Port Macquarie electorate and is welcome news for our community. The upgrade will help provide the great school facilities our community needs and deserves.
Thanks to the Liberals and Nationals government, the NSW economy is the strongest in Australia and this Budget demonstrates that by being fiscally responsible we can deliver vitally important projects across the electorate and across the state.
We are seeing unprecedented growth in our local communities and thanks to the government’s astute decisions, our strong position now gives us options to invest in our communities.
More than $100 million has been allocated to complete the Pacific Highway upgrade from the Oxley Highway to Kundabung. We have prioritised the completion of the duplication of the Pacific Highway by 2020, but have not ignored other much needed services and infrastructure. Additional roads funding includes:
$2,320,000 – Pavement repair on the Pacific Highway, south of Kew
$2,113,000 – Routine maintenance on state roads including management and inspection services and minor pavement repairs
$1,115,000 – Specific maintenance and minor improvement work on state roads including patching and resurfacing, road widening and realignment, intersection upgrades and passing lanes.
$100,000 – Design improvements for the intersection of the Oxley Highway and Lake Road, Port Macquarie.
$832,000 – Grants to Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, Lord Howe Island Board and Sailability NSW (Port Macquarie) to upgrade recreational boating infrastructure facilities under the NSW Boating Now program.
Community-backed projects in the Camden Haven: Schools to Schools will receive $200,000; Beach to Beach has secured $500,000 funding, including an elevated boardwalk at Dunbogan, part of the $62 million Cycling and Walking Program.
Funding has also been committed to continue investigations for a new orbital road from Ocean Drive to Hastings River Drive, Port Macquarie.
Since I was elected in 2011, hundreds of millions of dollars have been directed to the this electorate and this Budget reflects ongoing investment for the benefit of everyone in our community.
