The upgrade will expand the school to provide new permanent teaching spaces for the school’s 750 students and staff.
Oxley Member Melinda Pavey visited the school and said the project was part of the NSW Government’s record commitment to education across the state.
“That will see a record $4.2 billion invested into new and existing school projects over the next four years, including $2.2 billion worth of new projects commencing in the next two years,” she said.
Ms Pavey said the funding for the project in Wauchope will meet the needs of local families.
“Wauchope continues to grow and school enrolments are increasing.
“The Public School needs a capital injection to be able to expand and cater for the student body, and I’m pleased the NSW Government’s sound economic management enables delivery of this funding,” Ms Pavey said.
Education Minister Rob Stokes said the project will benefit students and the local community as a whole.
“The NSW Government is working hard to provide high-quality education facilities for students and their communities now and into the future,” he said.
Planning and consultation on the scope of works for the project is underway.
The final quantum of funding for the project will be confirmed after the tender process for works has been completed.
