A spokesman from the NSW Ambulance media unit said the two car crash occurred at about 1.30pm on Ocean Drive near Links Crescent.
As a result of the collision, one car flipped and rolled into an embankment.
Emergency services fled to the scene with two people, a woman in her late 70s and a man in his early 80s trapped in their vehicle.
The State Emergency Service attended along with NSW Ambulance, NSW Fire and Rescue and police.
The two trapped patients were released from the vehicle at about 2.15pm. The 77-year-old woman was suffering shoulder pain and later transported to Royal North Shore Hospital with spinal injuries by Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
The man had a laceration to his head and chest pain.
Another person, a woman believed to be in her early 70s suffered minor injuries.
All three people were treated at the scene before being transported by ambulance to Port Macquarie Base Hospital.
