Port Macquarie Magpies can vouch for that after they got the monkey off the back with an emphatic 20.24 (144) to 1.3 (9) belting of Grafton.
Remarkably, their first win of the season was a 367-point turnaround after the Magpies were hammered by 232 points at Byron Bay last weekend.
It ensured the side celebrated Dylan Beasley’s 100th senior game of Aussie Rules for the club in style.
The 19-goal win was set up by a 10-goal second quarter when the Magpies extended their 29-point quarter time lead to an unassailable 97-point margin at the main break.
Injured midfielder Scott Dalton said it was a far more complete performance than the last encounter with Grafton when Port Macquarie went down by four points.
“It’s taken a bit longer (to get the first win of the season) than we would have wanted,” he said.
“Grafton were competitive for the first half of each quarter, but then we ran over the top of them.”
Captain Jesse Schmidt starred with the boot, kicking six goals while Craig Dicker contributed four.
In total, the Magpies had eight different goalkickers.
“We started to do what we’ve been working on at training which was really pleasing,” Dalton said.
Dalton was pleased the team claimed their first win of the season for Beasley.
“He puts a lot of effort in and he keeps on taking his game to another level for us this year,” he said.
“He's playing a different role for us this year where he sets up most of our attack.”
