The local Greens party, Three Rivers Greens, is concerned by the recent announcement of an application for an exploration licence by Baldock Fe’s, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cazaly Resources Limited. The exploration licence is for an area covering 75sqm of local land including Lake Innes, Queens Lake, Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills and the Cowarra Dam.

The group is committed to thoroughly investigating this proposal and its possible links to the most recent local zoning changes to our Local Environment Plan (LEP) for our Local Government Area. The Three Rivers Greens are quite concerned about the speedy development of extractive industries interest in our region following legislative amendments at all levels of government and have a petition, currently in circulation, calling for our LEP to be amended to its former self.
Three Rivers Greens have been approached by a number of concerned community groups and will be extending an invitation to local community groups for a discussion and education session about the extraction and use of cobalt worldwide and the impact this application could have on our local community and environment.
