A water main was damaged by a National Broadband Network (NBN) contractor at around 2.30pm Monday, May 8 causing flooding near the intersection of Comboyne and Graham Streets, Kendall.

The entry to the Kendall Community Op Shop was sandbagged to prevent water entering their building.
Supply was cut off temporarily until crews from Port Macquarie-Hastings Council arrived at around 3pm.
A spokesperson for the council said the water supply was re-routed until repairs could be made. The crew will work into the night to restore supply to Kendall and Kew.
“Some resident will have low water pressure and discoloration but it will be back to normal by Tuesday morning,” the spokesperson said.
The water caused significant damage to the roadway and parking area outside the community op shop.
A spokesperson for the nbn™ crew said a full investigation will take place into the incident.
“At around 2:30pm today an nbn™ contractor accidentally struck a water main while carrying out construction works in Kendall,” said Marcela Balart, state corporate affairs advisor NSW/ACT.
“The local water authority and council were notified immediately after the incident. The area has been barricaded and made safe.
“Repair works are underway and will be completed tonight and the site will be remediated over the next few weeks. nbn will continue to work with authorities and is also conducting a full investigation into the incident.”
