More than 1000 fun runners lined up on Town Green on Friday, May 5 for the inaugural Bright Light Fun Run.
The five kilometre course was activated with glowing lights and lasers as runners made their way to Town Beach and back.
All funds raised from the Bright Night Fun Run will be channelled back into the local community via the Ironman Volunteer program run by the local organising committee.
In 2016, close to $50,000 was donated to local schools, surf life saving clubs, sporting associations and not-for-profit organisations such as Port Macquarie Domestic and Family Violence Specialists.
The community can be involved in the Ironman excitement again on Saturday morning (May 6) with the running of the Ironkids event.
The race is open to all children aged between 5 and 13 years with registrations open between 7.30am and 8.45am on Town Green.
There are three race distances – 500m family wave (a child and adult running together), a 1500m run for the 7-10 years olds and a three kilometre course for the 11-13 year olds.
The race starts at 9am.
