The Sharks were set to kick off the Group 3 season at Forster a fortnight ago, but rain forced the postponement of the opening round.
It meant all Group 3 teams had to wait another fortnight.
A knee injury to halfback Jake Flanagan will sideline him for a few weeks with Chris Green and Pomare Ormsby set to line up in the halves.
Coach Wayne Grant said the disjointed start to the season meant there was plenty of competition for first grade spots.
“There are a few openings there for blokes to cement if they want,” he said.
“It’s a good opportunity for Chris and Pom who will have first crack at the six and seven jumpers for us this weekend.”
Grant admitted “everyone was a bit of an unknown quantity at this stage, ourselves included”.
“We don’t know what OId Bar have got, but I have heard they’ve boosted their stocks,” he said.
“We haven’t had an opportunity to have a good look at anyone yet other than the nines up at Coffs Harbour.”
