The event is now on at the Port Macquarie Racecourse main carpark from 10am until 2pm.
All other planning for the event continues.
Spokesperson Mick Brownlow said the 10th anniversary event will include an array of old Holden vehicles, trade stands, hot food, cold drinks and plenty of entertainment.
“This event is a rarity in that there are not many car shows that still do the classic cruise,” he said.
“While there are lots of car shows around town, we wanted ours to be a bit different. At this show, we meet, have a yarn and then have a drive around the area to show off our beautiful cars, before congregating on Westport Park for the show-n-shine side of the day.
“As we like to say, these vehicles are driven and not hidden.
“We spend about four hours on the park where there will be lots of activity happening around the place.
“Our program is for everyone in the family, not just the car lovers.”
Motoring is the central theme with the car show supported by motoring trade stalls. Port Macquarie Panthers Rock & Roll Dance Club will take part in the day, and the local SES will demonstrate rescue techniques.
With a favourable long-range weather forecast, Mr Brownlow said all funds raised on the day go to the local SES and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter support group.
“We have been fundraising for the SES for a number of years. We specifically purchase training aids and gear that the members require to continue their great work,” he said.
“In past years we have helped out by purchasing a full-size rescue dummy, GPS enabled digital cameras, backpacks, silva compasses and rehydration packs.
Another feature of the day will be the traditional people’s choice awards.
“We will be encouraging visitors on the day to grab a voting slip and nominate the car they like the most. The people’s choice winner will receive a $100 voucher courtesy of Auto Barn.
