And that’s just for starters.
Other animals at the expo will include lizards, turtles and frogs.
Venomous snakes will be on display.
The North Coast Herpetology Group’s annual Port Macquarie Reptile Expo will bring together about 18 reptile breeders from across the state.
There will be animals for sale ranging from pythons to geckos, bearded dragons and turtles.
Reptile enclosures, accessories and food supplies will also be for sale.
Billabong Zoo will run educational pit shows during the day.
The expo is expected to attract about 1000 people.
North Coast Herpetology Group president Debbie Green said each year’s expo was better than the year before.
A licence is needed to own a reptile.
Mrs Green said reptiles were quite easy to look after.
“They don’t need exercise or a large amount of care,” she said.
“Once you have them set up with the right equipment, they are fairly easy to maintain.”
Mrs Green encouraged anyone interested in owning a reptile to join a herpetology group.
Experienced members can help with information and advice.
The reptile expo also aims to raise awareness about reptiles.
North Coast Herpetology Group past president and animal keeper Norm Halling emphasised the importance of educating people about reptiles.
The herpetology group welcomes new members.
The March 19 Reptile Expo at Panthers Port Macquarie is open from 10am to 3pm with an auction scheduled at noon.
Entry is $5 for adults and $2 for children.
