A Port Macquarie School of Hard Knocks - Absolutely Everybody Choir performance was the highlight of the February 24 event at Port Macquarie Base Hospital.
The choir’s repertoire culminated with an encore performance with the dignitaries joining in.
The NSW Governor and his wife met service providers during the afternoon tea.
Governor Hurley and Mrs Hurley heard about the redevelopment plans for the hospital’s mental health unit before they toured the mental health inpatient unit and met staff.
The Rural Adversity Mental Health Program hosted the visit.
Rural Adversity Mental Health Program coordinator Darcy Budden said the visit was a great opportunity to showcase mental health services, the mental health unit redevelopment plans and local initiatives.
Rural Adversity Mental Health Program, a statewide program funded by the NSW Ministry of Health, links rural people to the help they need.
The program provides education, mental health first aid, workplace support skills training and community support skills.
It informs, educates and connects people with services and programs for appropriate treatment and support.
