Fundraising activities are high on the agenda to help their Bridge Partner School and community development projects in Central Kalimantan.
Students will take part in activities at the school and learn about the multicultural city of Singkawang, in which three main ethnic groups (Malayu, indigenous Dayak and Chinese background ‘Tionghao’) live in harmony.
They will team up with students from Cleveland State High School, Brisbane, to will visit a Dayak village in which the indigenous people have managed to preserve their forest and way of life in spite of growing threats due to globalisation.
Their forest is home to iconic species such as Orang-utans and sun bears.
Camden Haven High’s Bridge Partner School is lacking basic resources, in particular lap-tops. If you have a working lap-top which is not being used, please consider donating it.
Financial donations to help support the schools and wildlife projects will also be gratefully accepted. The major fundraiser is a trivia night on March 4 at Club North Haven. Tickets are $20 and available at the club or school office.
