The nine-a-side competition was the Sharks first hit-out for the season and they progressed all the way to the final before being defeated by Macksville.
New signing Brendon Carter appeared to level the scores in the shadows of full-time, but was ruled to have been held up.
The Sharks played a total of four games on the day and won three – defeating North Tamworth, Bellingen and Cudgen on the way to the final.
Overall, Grant was happy with the effort of some of the club’s under-18 stars in Zac Flanagan, Blake Wells and Dillon Lee.
Regular first graders Tom Maguire, Scott Grant, Mitch Wilbow, Harley Gore and Liam Potter all played well.
“They were pretty impressive for us,” Grant said.
It's a nice confidence builder for us.

“Across the board they were all good … it wasn’t a one-man show, so it’s a nice confidence builder for us moving forward.”
“No-one remembers who wins these sorts of tournaments at the end of the year,” he said.
“They’re all concerned about the big one at the end of the year.”
The Sharks will continue preparations for season 2017 with a trial this Saturday.
