The Beatles Festival – now in its fifth year – looks set to be one of the best on record.
With a hard-working committee bringing together a host of performers, market events, car shows. a trivia night and a champagne breakfast, this year’s festival has cast its net wide to embrace the wider community.
The festival kicks off at Wauchope on Thursday with a trivia night at the Bago Tavern from 6.30pm followed by a performance from Beatle Magic on Friday at the Laurieton United Services Club. Tickets are still available for this two and a half hour event which starts at 8pm.
Saturday and Sunday’s program is focused on Westport Park, the Glasshouse, Roses Vineyards with the headliner event, the Beatle Magic Dance Party, at Panthers Port Macquarie.
Committee member Neil Porter said the four-day festival had something for everyone.
“The Beatles Festival has grown each year and the 2017 event will for the first time feature a car show featuring the VW Beetle,” he said. “With Wauchope and Laurieton hosting events, I am really looking forward to everyone having a good time across the four days.
“Saturday will feature about 20 market stalls, a car show and shine on Westport Park. There is free entertainment in the Glasshouse Forecourt from The Australian Army Band (Newcastle) and the local band HATCH. The three hours of free music will create a really good vibe in the centre of town.”
Entertainment on Westport Park gets underway at 11am and carries through to 4.30pm before the Beatle Magic Dance Party at Panthers Port Macquarie at 7.30pm. Sunday’s events start at 8am for a three hour-long Beatles Champagne Breakfast at Roses Vineyard while Westport Park cranks it up again for the car show and shine, market stalls and more entertainment from 11am until 4.30pm.
Mr Porter said the committee was looking to emulate the Parkes’ Elvis Festival, but to do that we need to crack the Sydney market. With successful funding applications, we are confident that we will reach that goal.
