Team Turbo’s Brad Waite said his team started training for the event about 10 minutes before the race.
The same group of men also won the 2016 Tinnie Races and are now aiming for a third straight win in 2018.
Mr Waite said unfortunately his team couldn’t divulge their winning tactics, or give any pointers for others.
He said that Lake Cathie Bowling Club had done a fabulous job in organising such a successful event.
The races have become a community institution on the lake.
Many teams chose to don Australian-eske costumes in the lead up to January 26.
Australia Day-themed activities, food and competitions were held at the club after the races.
A barbecue, stew and damper, pies and sausage rolls fed the hungry crowd.
Face painting was a popular activity for many children.
Other attendees were enthusiastic for the pie eating competition and tug-o-war.
