Mid North Coast Girls Surfriders club values and focus is on promoting girls surfing in a non-threatening environment with full participation regardless of age and ability.
Divisions include short board, long board and mini mal.
The eight divisions were all hotly contested with only one or two points being the difference between first, second and third places.
Our unique point score and monthly contest format enables our members to surf two rounds each month which encourages all their surfer girls to be consistent throughout the year instead of cut-throat and straight knock out competitions.
Most improved long board went to Megan Verdon from Bonny Hills.
Verdon only took up the sport of surfing recently when her family relocated to Bonny Hills for a sea change.
She has had surfing lessons and is out in the surf practicing at every opportunity.
Rookie of the year went to Emily Cougle.
She began the year in the Beginner Girls Caddy Division and progressed to the Beginner Girls Caddy Optional before placing fourth in the Intermediate Shortboard in a total of seven monthly competitions.
An outstanding effort.
Other members that excelled and were awarded accordingly in their respective divisions included Stevie Brown and Miah Cook who were the youngest members to get to their feet for the first time.
Tori Knox and Jade Buscall were most improved in the Beginner Girl Caddy while Charlee Bailey was the most improved in Beginner Girl Caddy Optional.
Molly Walters most improved in Mini Mal, Zahra McGuiness and Chelsea Beecroft most improved in Intermediate Shortboard.
Lucy Green was the most improved in Open Shortboard while Angela Smith was voted club person of the year.
The club will hold a registration day for 2017 on February 5 at Rainbow Beach from 9am to 11am.
The first competition day is February 12 with a 7am check-in.
