Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams said the state government was funding a $3 million project to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion during peak traffic periods at the Oxley Highway, Wrights Road and John Oxley Drive intersection.
Work will be in shifts during the week between 6pm and 7am from October 26.
Night work is scheduled for October 26, October 27, October 30, October 31, as well as November 2 and November 3, if required.
Short delays are expected.
Mrs Williams said one lane would be closed on the Oxley Highway westbound with intermittent stoppages and one lane closed with alternate flow on Wrights Road.
“John Oxley Drive between the Wrights Road roundabout and Kingfisher Road will be closed as required and if implemented a detour will be in place via Phillip Charley Drive,” she said.
“Motorists may experience delays of up to five minutes and should allow extra travel time.
“Up to date information, including any changes to work dates will be displayed on electronic message signs along the roads and highway.
“Every effort will be made to reduce the impact on motorists and all road users are thanked for their patience while work takes place.”
The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year, weather permitting.
