The year 11 students attend different schools, with Lachlan at Newman Senior Technical College and Alex at St Joseph's Regional College.
They said they were surprised when they found out that they had become captains for year 12.
The boys have different plans for their futures with Lachlan keen to work in the trade industry, while Alex is interested in studying at university.
Growing up they had similar interests, especially in sport and both played soccer.
Around the age of 13-years-old the boys said that their interests started to differentiate.
Recently Lachlan has taken up rugby union with the Vikings, which he said he is enjoying.
As captain Lachlan hopes to develop the sport program at Newman Senior Technical College.
“It would be pretty cool to develop an origin-like tournament between the schools,” he said.
Alex said being part of the leadership team at St Joseph's Regional College means trying to stay as involved as long as possible before year 12 exams.
He said the school is currently in the process of organising fundraising events to help with local causes.
Alex’s favourite subjects are geography and earth environmental science and he plans to study at university utilising those two areas.
Lachlan has an apprenticeship with Commercial Project Group, which he is currently undertaking as part of the school curriculum.
