Rebecca Stockwell from The Cruise Terminal said the past few weeks have been an optimum time to get out and enjoy the whale shows on offer.
“We are currently experiencing lots of mums and their calves at the moment,” she said.
“They are in reasonably shallow water – about 12 metres deep – and close to the shoreline. It looks like the mums and trying to guide their young on their journey.
“The whales and their calves a putting on quite a show with lots of action including breaches, and pec and tail slaps.
“It is really spectacular.”
Mrs Stockwell said whale watching was often ‘one for the bucket list with many people in awe of the whales’ activity after an expedition.
The whale watching operators said with this week enjoying some terrific weather, it is a great opportunity to get out and take in the sights.
“We only purchased this vessel in April and the last few weeks have been amongst the best we have seen. And it is all due to the mums and their calves,” she added.
