When to Plebiscite or not to plebiscite?
Playing politics is present in this event, it is clear that on both sides of the house there is no bipartisanship present by both parties, so no solution or passing of the legislation will be possible.

A complete waste of time and money.
For once in a long while I have to agree with what Labor is proposing, a free vote in the parliament.
Yes I'm a National.
Is the Coalition and Labor and Independents so fragmented on this issue that they would be too scared to have a free vote? Does the Prime Minister really want equality for these people?
Can't the other members put their differences and religious beliefs aside and vote with their conscience and in the true Aussie tradition and spirit, give these people a fair go?
But here is a Prime Minister and a Deputy Prime Minister that wants to blow millions, that they haven't got on a public referendum, plebiscite, just because they don't trust the outcome of a free vote in the Parliament?
I've known same sex couples for years and found them descent citizens, persecuted yes by mainly religion, fanatics and macho men of course. And we have religions that harbour pedophiles amongst their clergy.
I believe there are far worse crimes than loving a man or woman of the same gender.
I call on all the silent persons to ring, email or show up in person to contact your Coalition MP and demand he or she gives these people a fair go. On this issue I'm with Shorten.

Guide Dogs’ new campaign
A recent Guide Dogs NSW/ACT survey has revealed one in two people waited more than two years between diagnosis and seeking the help they needed to maintain their mobility and independence.
A staggering 26 per cent waited more than 10 years before asking for assistance.
Although we understand there are many reasons why people wait, such as not realising their vision is limiting their mobility, relying on family members to get around and concerns about the stigma of vision loss, it is important that help is sought to reduce the risk of trips, falls, isolation and depression.
Vision loss poses substantial challenges to healthy ageing and is associated with[i]:
Double the risk of falls
Three times the risk of developing depression
Four to eight times more likely to have a fracture
Admission to nursing homes three years earlier
As we launch our new campaign, Don’t Delay, Seek Help Today, this International White Cane Day on October 15, I would like to ask readers to consider if they, or a friend or family member is experiencing issues with vision loss and let them know assistance is available at no cost, no matter where they live.

Cancer Council NSW campaign
A new campaign this week launched by Cancer Council NSW – “1 in 3 Cancers” – is tackling the low awareness across the lower MidNorth Coast area of all the lifestyle factors that evidence shows increase cancer risk.
Poor diet, being overweight, not doing enough physical activity and drinking too much alcohol collectively contribute to nearly as many cancer cases as smoking.
