We started the year with uncertainty due to the poor conditions of the courts but the association and club administrators worked together to run a successful competition using seven of the 11 courts at Macquarie Park.
Members will play on new courts in 2017 which means a better standard of netball.
- President Helen Miles
This meant training space was tight but court allocation allowed everything to run smoothly.
In April, HVNA received news that meant they would be able to upgrade their courts so everyone could see light at the end of the tunnel.
HVNA Clubs Port Combined, Wauchope, Saints, Camden Haven, and Panthers worked hard as a community and looked to the future of netball in the Hastings.
HVNA representative teams made the association proud competing at Regional League, State Masters, State and State Age Championships.
The Hastings Opens finished winners of the Regional League comp and will represent the region which stretches from Great Lakes in the south to Woolgoolga in the north when they play against other region winners in the inaugural State Cup.
This will be held at Netball Central at Olympic Park on September 24 and 25.
The year concluded on September 10 with a successful grand-final day.
Port Combined came out winners of the top junior division, but Wauchope Netball Club was named club of the year in a fine achievement for one of the association’s smaller clubs.
Melissa Alaban was named association member of the year for her service to the association.
Mia Watts was umpire of the year.
Mia volunteered her time umpiring at almost every representative carnival and major event the association attended in 2016.
In preparation for the New Year, representative squads have been selected.
The 11’s squad of 20 players gives the girls the opportunity to have more training with an accredited coach.
This squad allows the experience of what can be expected in rep netball if that’s the path they chose to follow.
The junior rep squads will train and be selected into final teams on November 19 at the Hastings Indoor Stadium.
Please come along to watch if you have an interest in netball.

Hastings Valley Netball members look forward to being able to play on new courts in 2017.
Having a first class surface means that a player can rely on the landing surface, this means a better standard of netball for our area.
See you next year.
