An array of beautiful handmade items will be on show – quilts, cushions, wall hangings, stumpwork, applique and more.
The event will run on Saturday October 1 from 10am to 4.30pm and Sunday October 2 - 10am to 3.30pm. Entry is $3 and proceeds from this event will be donated to the Home Hospice for Palliative Care, a dedicated group of volunteers who care for those suffering from life threatening illnesses, and their families. There will also be a trading table and raffles.
Make time to come along and enjoy the expo and support a very worthy cause.
The LUSC Quilters meet each Wednesday in the Anzac Room of the Laurieton United Services Club from 10am where they enjoy many crafts including quilting, applique, beading, embroidery, in fact all types of stitchery. New members are most welcome!
They support many local charities and work together on community support projects. Recently the quilters donated eleven bed quilts to the Palliative Care unit of the Wauchope Hospital. These were well received and added a bright touch to the rooms.
For over 14 years the group has produced Mastectomy Pillows (over 100 each year) for the Cancer Unit at the Base Hospital. These pillows give comfort to those recovering from breast surgery and are much appreciated by the recipients.
Other projects include quilts or cash donations to local charities to assist them with their fundraising efforts.
