Club captain Gavin Thompson and his crew of little stars are putting out the feelers for any and all newcomers.
The Port Macquarie Little Athletics will be holding a registration afternoon at Stuart Park on September 2 from 4.30am.
This will be followed by another registration night on September 9, also at 4.30pm, and two ‘come and try’ nights on September 16 and 23, providing ample opportunity for your kids to become involved.
“Last year we had about 150 to 160 kids registered and we hope to get 200 plus this year, being an Olympic year,” Gavin said.
“We do all kinds of athletics including running, jumping and throwing, so sports such as shot put, long jump and high jump as examples.”
The little athletics season kicks off in September and runs through until mid-March, providing a long season for only $80.
“Not only is it a very affordable sport, it’s the social side of things that benefit the kids,” Gavin said.
“It helps them to become better people and better kids. They are able to meet new friends, to keep fit and healthy, and to have a lot of fun while doing it.”
