Directors Philip, Dianne, Simon and Alana Luke have confirmed the sale of the property to a reputable caravan park company.
Sundowner Holidays managing director Simon Luke said the sale’s forward planning began in 2011.
“There was a considerable amount of hard work involved and negotiations with Lands department in order to have the property ready for its next phase of development. With these plans realised in 2015 we decided to take the opportunity to start a new chapter in our lives and it felt like the right time,” he said.
Mr Luke ensured the whole family had enjoyed the past 25 years of ownership.
“We love Port Macquarie and we're really excited to continue to play a big part of the regions growth into the future with other ventures".
Mr Luke, his wife Alana and their five-year-old daughter Willow will remain in the Port Macquarie region to focus on several festivals they’ve founded during there time here, including Festival of the Sun and The Port Macquarie Blues and Barbecue Festival.
“I think the most notable thing we’ve witnessed is the growth of Port Macquarie and seeing how dynamic of a place it has become. It used to be regarded as a sleepy, retirement town but now there is a wider variety of people coming to the internationally know town,” he said.
Mr Luke said he would often hear stories of people visiting Port Macquarie for large events, then returning on their own accord.
“It really is a place you just fall in love with and continue to return to.”
He said the redevelopment of the CBD was a milestone event for the town, and the building of Port Central.
“I think we will miss the face to face meeting of customers. However, we have a fantastic team and many faces will be staying long into the future,” he said.
Mr Luke looked forward to the future and wished good luck to park’s new owners.
“We’ll also miss dealing with tradespeople and suppliers but I’m sure with our festivals and events we’ll be dealing with the same faces,” Mr Luke said.
