During the term two winter school holidays, the hub will host a range of activities which will be highlighted by a table tennis tournament on Tuesday, July 12, hosted by world champion body boarder Damien King.
There will be prizes for the winners of each age group and a chance to face King from behind the paddle.
“I love ping pong. Second to body boarding it’s my second passion,” he said.
“We’re down for a big showing, it should be a lot of fun and I hope heaps of kids will come down and have a ball.”
From Monday, July 4 there will be a host of activities every day ranging from ball games, to movie days, video games, arcade machines, pool tables and pizza days.
Youth Hub youth worker Jayson Corr said he hopes this school holidays will be the biggest yet for the Hub.
“This is the first time we have the Damien King Cup for table tennis,” he said.
“We provide a great space for all different types of kids, including those who might not have anywhere else to go.
“For those who may need some guidance and somewhere to go we are happy to try and provide that.”
Mr Corr said that the hub is happy to provide an alternative to simply wandering around town.
“There are a lot of kids who just hang around town and walk around, so we want to promote the hub and let the kids know that we’re here and they are welcome to come in,” he said.
