2MC FM and Southern Cross Ten’s annual fundraiser month of June is their biggest, where all money raised goes to the children’s wards at Port Macquarie Base Hospital, Wauchope District Memorial Hospital, Kempsey District Hospital, Macksville District Hospital and Manning Base Hospital.
Many individuals and businesses contribute their time, effort and money to the cause and TLE Electrical is a prime example.
Owner Ross Gaynor and his team have a BBQ every Friday morning for a gold coin donation. Every cent goes to Give Me 5 For Kids and so far, they have raised a staggering amount.
“We’ve been doing it for seven years now and have donated close to $25,000,” he said.
“This year we have an agreement with our national service centre that they will match us dollar for dollar, and so far we are up to $8,200 this year.”
Ross said the BBQ use to be free, until a customer suggested making it a gold coin donation for charity.
“They said they wanted it to go to the kids ward at the hospital and Give Me 5 For Kids is a great charity,” Ross said.
“2MC do a great job, raise a lot of money and we are proud to support that. It’s something that’s been going on for 10 years.
“It’s great that the money goes to a cause that looks after kids who are sick and also the parents that have to spend nights in the hospital.”
