That is the date when Port Macquarie-Hastings residents will vote in the local government election.
NSW Local Government Minister Paul Toole advised elections will go ahead as scheduled on September 10 in council areas not subject to merger proposals.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is not earmarked for an amalgamation.
The state government intends to delay the elections until March next year for councils subject to a merger proposal under examination. The exact date of elections for those councils will be confirmed after the council boundary review process and consultation with the Electoral Commission.
The announcement ends uncertainly around the election timing amid proposed council mergers.
Mayor Peter Besseling said he didn't think having separate local government elections was a good idea.
"It creates broader confusion in the community," he said.
"I think for the sake of consistency it would be more appropriate to have everyone [go to the polls] at the same date."
Cr Besseling said certainty about the election date was good for the current councillors and people considering standing for election.
Voters will elect a mayor and eight councillors when they go to the polls on September 10 in Port Macquarie-Hastings.
In a letter to mayors, Mr Toole said the government aims to complete the council boundary review process by around the middle of 2016 and no decision has been made on any merger proposal.
"However, as far as possible, the government wants to provide certainty to councils on matters that affect council business," the letter said.
"To this end I am writing to councils to provide advice on the government's intention on the timing of council elections."
