Fresh from the success of Sydney's sell out Meatstock festival, organisers Simon Luke and Jay Beaumont will turn their attention to the nation's biggest barbecue battle.
A total of 94 teams have already registered for the Australian BBQ Wars, which will take place throughout the two-day event. Sitting at the judging panel will be members of the Australian BBQ Alliance who will crown the winner of the $10,000 prize pool.
As the smell from the smokers fills the air, Australia's top food trucks will be on hand all weekend for those in need of a cure to the inescapable meat sweats. From Smokin' Grill offering American BBQ with a fresh Aussie twist to Vic's Meat Market, who will be getting low and slow on one of Australia's biggest smokers. The myriad of mouth-watering meaty cuts, are set to be washed down with cold brews from some of the countries best micro-breweries who will provide the perfect accompaniment to any autumn evening.
Guests will also be treated to the sounds of pub rock journeyman, Tex Perkins as he appears with band, The Ape. They share a bill with crooner Mojo Juju, infectious indie band, The Tommy Hawks and accomplished songstress Sahara Beck, who was recently voted most popular female artist at the Queensland Music Awards. Aussie artists including Shaun Kirk, Bounty Hunters, Roy Rose and Reggie D and the Bloozers will also appear on stage.
"We can't wait to get our teeth sunk into the third Blues and Barbecue Festival," said co-organiser, Simon Luke. "It's going to be bigger and better than ever before and we are looking forward to seeing over 94 of Australia's top barbeque teams step up to the plate. We feel we have created a great value, family friendly event by offering the best in Australian food, music and craft beer to keep everyone entertained."
General admission for the festival is $50 and includes 6pm-9pm access to the barbecue pit yard, where food will be available on Friday and 1pm-9pm. There will be live bands, bars and food.
