"As you know FOTSUN isn't always sunny. It was a hot first day, but we controlled that challenge as much as we could," festival director Simon Luke said.
"I'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone. It was so humbling to see how thankful they were and how much appreciation they showed."
Mr Luke said that performance wise the FOTSUN organisers were "ecstatic" with how well the bands performed.
"We had amazing feedback. Watching Illy close out the festival was something special. It was one of the best nights I've seen," he said.
Friday was hot and humid but it didn't keep fans away. Bootleg Rascal impressed a full mosh pit of festival goers with the headline being Jebediah later that evening.
Illy was another fan favourite, especially for 22-year-old Novocastrian Lucille Niddrie who was attending her first FOTSUN.
"I loved it. It was my first time going and it was great.
"The mosh was awesome," she said.
"Illy was amazing and the vibe was so good. It was just fun to camp and catch up with everyone and have fun."
She attended with plenty of friends including Port Macquarie local Jessica Green who saw a childhood favourite perform.
"British India was my favourite act for sure. I've been listening to them since year seven," she said.
"It was a really good atmosphere, everyone got a long and there was no trouble.
"I'll definitely be back; it was as good as ever."
A huge team of around 40 people got stuck into cleaning yesterday with Mr Luke saying the Sundowner Caravan Park and its surrounds would be back to normal in a day or two.
"The team will get in and do it sustainably and quickly to continue to ensure we maintain as much recycling as possible," he said.
"We want to make sure we can continue to educate people to love their gear, their tents and the environment they are in.
"We will clean up all of the bulky items first and then over the next two days we go through and screen everywhere and get every little item that we possible can."
